The Oconee County coroner said Friday the three men killed in a plane crash were all from Texas.

On Tuesday, air traffic controllers lost contact with the Piper PA-46, which crashed at about 4:35 p.m. in the Eastville community, about 10 miles southwest of Athens, according to the FAA.

The GBI conducted autopsies on the three killed. Oconee Coroner Ed Carson identified the three as Gordon Hall, 63, of Martindale, Texas; Donald Grieb, 67, of Houston; and Chris Weber, 65, of Missouri City.

Both the FAA and the NTSB are investigating the crash, which caused the plane to ignite in a pasture about a quarter-mile off Elder Road, according to the Oconee sheriff’s office. No injuries were reported on the ground.
