Murder suspect fled scene after shooting, killing man in Clayton County

Police launched a homicide investigation Friday night after finding a man who had been shot and killed near Riverdale.

About 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched near Pear Tree Lane after receiving a call about a shooting, Clayton County police said in a news release. Officers discovered a deceased man who had been shot at least once.

The shooting victim, whose name was not released, is believed to have known his killer, the release said. The suspect ran away from the scene shortly before officers arrived.

A motive was not available, but investigators do not believe it was a random incident. No other information was released.
