A Cobb County mother is accused of stealing another woman’s purse during a kindergarten class Christmas party, police said.

Kayla Chenee Delay allegedly took the purse Thursday afternoon at Varner Elementary School, according to her arrest warrant. The purse belonged to the teacher.

“Accused did then leave the property of the school and return to her home where she hid the purse behind a dresser,” the warrant states.

The school’s surveillance camera captured Delay leaving campus with the purse, according to school police.

Delay was arrested later Thursday afternoon at her Powder Springs home and charged with theft by taking, jail records showed. She was released early Saturday after posting $2,000 bond, according to booking records.
