A Gwinnett County man was killed overnight when gunshots broke out at a party in a nearby county, police said.

Darrin Bernard Barnes, 43, of Duluth, died when an altercation turned violent in the Walton County city of Monroe, police Chief Keith Glass said.

“The City of Monroe Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are actively investigating Barnes’ death,” Glass said.
