Police are searching for several suspects who broke into an Atlantic Station apartment Wednesday afternoon and held the resident at knife and gunpoint.

About 5:30 p.m., the resident heard a knock on the door of his apartment, which is located in the 200 block of 16th Street, according to an Atlanta police incident report obtained by AJC.com. He wasn’t expecting company, and before he could answer the door, a crowbar smashed through the door’s lock.

Two men, wearing black clothes and snapback hats, entered the home and forced the resident to get on the ground while pointing handguns and a knife at him, the report said.

The suspects didn’t stay in the apartment long. The resident told officers he thinks they “got spooked” and ran away, jumping into a 2016 black Jeep Renegade that was waiting nearby, the report said.

Police said the getaway vehicle, which has the Georgia Tag “SAA1436,” was stolen out of Decatur. Police provided a picture of the stolen vehicle.

Channel 2's Matt Johnson reports.
