Police are searching for three men who invaded a southwest Atlanta home and pistol-whipped a man and his wife before stealing thousands of dollars, authorities said.

Surveillance video of the incident, which happened last Wednesday, shows three men walk toward the house in the 1200 block of Lockwood Drive in the Venetian Hills neighborhood. Police have named them as suspects.

Officers responded to the home a little before 8:15 a.m., according to an Atlanta police incident report. The officer met with the resident, who said he had just returned home after dropping off his children at school.

When he arrived, the homeowner said he saw the three men near his house holding handguns, the report said. One of the men held the homeowner at gunpoint, asking him, “Where’s the money? Where’s the dope?”

The homeowner told officers he was confused, since he does not sell drugs, but the thieves forced him inside the house, the report said. Once inside, they pistol-whipped the man and his wife in the head while making several demands.

During the attack, one of the men asked about the victims’ daughter by name, leading them to believe the suspects “had ties to them or were in cahoots with someone who had ties to them,” the report said.

The suspects then ransacked the house, finding $4,000 in cash, which the homeowner said was from pawning the title of his vehicle a week prior, the report said. The three robbers then ran to a car, which the victims were not able to see or describe.

The thieves covered up their faces, but the man said two of them had dreadlocks, while the third was wearing a black skull cap.

Both victims suffered bruises and swelling from the attack, but they refused treatment from first responders and were not taken to a hospital.
