A 24-year-old man was arrested Friday after allegedly abusing a 1-year-old.

Justin Michael Taylor, of Maysville, was taking care of his girlfriend’s child alone June 29 when the incident occurred, according to a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office wanted poster.

Police did not go into detail about the injuries but said the infant has been released from the hospital and is in the mother’s care. The infant is in a body cast from the waist down and also suffered trauma.

The mother of the child reported the incident to police, Jackson County investigator Charlie Timms said.

Taylor turned himself in. He faces felony charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and child cruelty in the first degree.
