Police are investigating after a man was found shot multiple times and killed Sunday afternoon at a southeast Atlanta apartment complex.

The man was discovered by police about 3:30 p.m. at the Forest Cove Apartments along Thomasville Boulevard, authorities said. The apartment complex borders Thomasville Park.

The victim, later identified as 37-year-old Chenard Carter, was dead at the scene, according to an Atlanta police spokesman. Investigators believe the shooter and Carter knew each other and were acquaintances.

A police spokesman said the shooting appears to be the result of a dispute stemming from a prior argument. No other information was released.
