A man is in a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds after he was shot in broad daylight, police said Sunday.

Investigators determined the shooting, which happened about 10:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Boulevard, was the result of a drug transaction that turned into a fight, Atlanta police spokesman James White said.

Officers found the man with three gunshot wounds, he said. The man was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where he is stable.

Police said the man has warrants out accusing him of drug-related offenses. The incident is still under investigation.

Boulevard was closed between North Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue while police investigated the shooting, Channel 2 Action News reported. The roadway was reopened just before 12:30 p.m.
