Police are investigating a road-rage incident on I-20 that left a man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

About 5:30 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to I-20 West near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Atlanta police Officer TaSheena Brown said in a news release.

They found a man, who said he had been shot in the leg by a woman he had accidentally cut off while driving on the interstate. He said the woman left the scene after the shooting.

However, 911 dispatchers received a call shortly after from the woman involved, who said that the man shot at her first, Brown said. She admitted to returning fire, according to police.

The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for his wound, while the woman did not sustain any injuries.

“Both drivers will be interviewed and questioned further by investigators,” the release said. “Criminal charges are pending at this time and the investigation continues.”
