A man died after being shot several times in the Whitehaven community of Memphis, Tennessee.
The shooting happened shortly after 11 a.m. Monday in the 5100 block of Hudgins. WHBQ is told that the victim was walking on the sidewalk when he was shot.
WHBQ spoke to several people in the area. They reported seeing the gunman sitting in a blue Chevrolet Impala waiting for the victim.
Memphis police found at least 15 shell casings in the middle of the street where the man was shot.
“We see 15 shell casings, and he got hit 10 times,” one neighbor said. “Senselessly, because he’s not that kind of guy.”
Neighbors told WHBQ that the victim was on the way to his mother's house.
“He goes to work and takes care of his mama,” another person said when describing the victim.
Investigators spent the afternoon going from house to house, searching for any clues related to the crime and the suspect.
Some neighbors said they think the shooting may have been influenced by a gang. Police have not released any information regarding the suspect or a motive.
