DeKalb County police are investigating a deadly motel shooting.

Officers found a 40-year-old man just before 1 a.m. in the back of the Gulf American Inns in the 3700 block of Flat Shoals Road, DeKalb police Maj. Stephen Fore said. He had been shot multiple times.

It is unclear what led to the shooting.

"No witnesses came forward at the scene,” Fore said.

Officials towed a car left at the scene just before 6 a.m.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
