A man was killed Monday afternoon after police say he confronted two men about his sister’s stolen bicycle, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Michael Fuqua Jr., 18, of Atlanta, was shot near a bus stop outside a strip mall at the intersection of Cascade Avenue and Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, Atlanta police said.

Police told Channel 2 Fuqua approached two men selling cellphones and water under a blue tent to complain about the stolen bike. One of the men pulled out a gun, shot Fuqua and ran, Channel 2 reported. The other man ran with him.

Fuqua was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.

A witness told Channel 2 she heard three shots in the parking lot. Police are checking surveillance cameras to see if they can gather additional evidence and identify the alleged gunman. No other details were released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
