A man was shot in the stomach inside a Midtown bowling alley early Friday, police said.

According to Atlanta police, the 27-year-old man was part of a large group that was bowling at Midtown Bowl when he was shot around 2:45 a.m. The bowling alley, located at 1936 Piedmont Circle, was just about to close for the night.

The man, who has not been identified, was found with a single gunshot wound to the stomach.

He was alert before he was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender said.

He is expected to survive.

Police told Channel 2 Action News that investigators recovered a single shell casing in the lane where the the group had been bowling.

They believe the victim and the shooter knew each other, but no suspect has been identified. The victim and the witnesses he was bowling with are not giving investigators much to go on, police said.

“The victim disclosed very little information about the circumstances surrounding the incident, describing the suspect as a light-skinned black male,” Bender said.

There are surveillance cameras inside the business that may have captured the shooting and may give police some clue as to what led to the outburst of violence, according to police.
