Teen found dead at DeKalb apartment

July 5, 2017An 18-year-old was found dead early Wednesday at the entrance of a DeKalb County apartment complex.
He was identified Thursday as Dayshawn Murphy.
Officers responded to a call about a person down about 12:45 a.m. at the Autumn Ridge apartments near Stone Mountain, DeKalb police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said. Neighbors initially thought they heard fireworks, not gunshots, Channel 2 Action News reported.
When officers got to the apartment on Central Drive, they found Murphy face down, Campbell said. He had a gunshot wound to the torso, according to Channel 2.
It is unclear what caused the shooting. No other details were released.
