A man was found shot to death Sunday night behind the wheel of a running vehicle, Clayton County police said.

Dispatchers received calls about gunshots in the area of Sheldon Court near College Park about 10:20 p.m., Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said.

About an hour later, more callers said there was a suspicious vehicle parked in the 2000 block of Knight Court with a man inside who wasn’t moving.

Officers found the vehicle and 35-year-old Stanley Smylie of Riverdale dead in the driver’s seat from an apparent gunshot wound, Marbury said.

Detectives canvassed the area for potential witnesses but have not been able to identify a suspect.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
