A pedestrian was killed Wednesday evening when he ran in front of a car and was hit on Austell Road, according to Cobb County police.
A 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by 45-year-old Kehinde Awe of Marietta was northbound on Austell Road approaching Hurt Road about 6 p,m., police Sgt. Wayne Delk said.
The man was running while crossing the street from west to east, Delk said.
“The traffic signal for traffic on Austell Road was green,” Delk said. “The front of the Corolla collided with the pedestrian, who became trapped under the vehicle.”
The man was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Delk. His name has not been released, pending notification of family members.
The driver was not injured.
