A Hall County man received a 16-year prison sentence Thursday in the 2016 shooting death of his sister during a family altercation.

Bradley Scott Holland originally was charged with murder in the death of Stacey Allison, officials said. But in a plea deal, the charge was reduced to voluntary manslaughter, Chief Assistant District Attorney Wanda Vance said.

Holland will serve the final nine years of his 25-year sentence on probation.

Deputies found Allison’s body in the family-owned Chicopee Village residence with a gunshot wound to her head, Hall County deputies said at the time. Allison was pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Holland’s mother, who along with his wife was present during the argument, was emotional in court Thursday, according to Vance.

The incident that took her daughter’s life was “hard for her to go through,” Vance said.
