A North Carolina man was sentenced Monday to three life sentences plus 20 years for molesting young girls in Cobb County.

Curtis Lee Paige, 51, molested as many as five children in Cobb between 2004 and 2008, the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. However, he was only charged with abusing two children due to statute of limitations and other issues.

Paige, who has been in custody since 2016, met the children through his girlfriend, who often babysat and had several children of her own living in an apartment on Windcliff Drive in Marietta, according to the release. The children’s ages were not released.

Two victims testified that they had been abused by Paige and saw him abusing other children.

“It has been almost 15 years since the abuse began and these victims are no longer children,” Assistant District Attorney Meredith Florio said. “They came into court as strong women now able to express the feelings of fear and embarrassment that kept them from disclosing for so long.”

A jury convicted Paige of eight counts of child molestation, three counts of aggravated child molestation and one count of aggravated sodomy.

The man was found near a car shot to death Monday morning.
