For 10 minutes, Samuel Lloyd was pinned under his car outside a Clayton County home just after midnight last week.

But police don’t know how he got there.

“His injuries were consistent with being run over,” Clayton County police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said, “but at the time, officers could (not) confirm who caused the vehicle to become lodged on top of Lloyd.”

Police did, however, arrest Lloyd’s friend, David Jones, who they said was under the influence and had a small amount of cocaine on him.

Jones told police he was trying to help Lloyd, but he didn’t think to call 911.

An Uber driver passing through the area did, and fire and police officials freed Lloyd. He remains in the hospital in stable condition.

Police searched Jones at the scene, found the cocaine and charged him with drug possession.

He also faces a reckless conduct charge, after police said he ignored “the standard of care which a reasonable person would exercise in a similar situation.”
