Man found shot to death in middle of road

A 53-year-old man was found dead in the middle of a Clayton County roadway, and police said he had been shot several times.

About 7 p.m. Monday, William Bonhart was found face down in the area of Wilson Road near the intersection with Osbourne Court in Riverdale, Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said Tuesday in a news release.

“Officers observed no signs of life and members of Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services confirmed that Bonhart had already succumbed to his injuries,” she said.

Witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots nearby and saw a man running away from a black Chevrolet Impala, according to Marbury. The car was seen leaving the area.

Police are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
