Cherokee County  deputies are searching for a suspect  who fatally shot a man near an Acworth convenience store Friday evening.

JonDavid Russell Johnson, 41, was killed in the shooting, which happened on Wade Green Road near the 76 gas station on Ga. 92, according to Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Jay Baker.

Deputies were called to the gas station about 11:15 p.m. after Johnson, who had been playing video games at the store, returned with a gunshot wound and collapsed inside, Baker said.

Johnson, who was shot once in the chest, later died at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to his death, Baker said. No arrests have been made in the case, he said Sunday.

Anyone who have may have witnessed anything unusual in the area Friday evening is asked to call 911.
