The man shot by an Atlanta police officer during a standoff Dec. 28 died Tuesday, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner.

Altman Hall, 34, was shot in the lower abdomen and was previously in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital, the GBI said.

The incident began when a resident of Linkwood Road called 911 to report Hall was possibly inside the home, GBI spokesman Bahan Rich said. A window in the home had been broken, he said. Hall had previously been evicted from the home and had a protective order against him, Rich said.

Officers attempted to make contact with Hall, who threatened to shoot officers, the GBI said. When Hall appeared in the doorway of the home, he was shot by an Atlanta officer.
