Police are seeking information about the death of a 50-year-old man early Sunday in Henry County.

The incident occurred as Darron Christopher Etheredge was returning home with his wife about 2:30 a.m., Maj. Mike Ireland said in a news release.

“It appears there was an argument between the two,” Ireland said, “which resulted in the wife exiting the vehicle somewhere in the vicinity of Jonesboro Road.”

Etheredge’s wife said she was approached by a man driving a black Mercedes-Benz SUV, and he offered her a ride, according to the release.

She accepted the ride, “and soon after an altercation occurred which resulted in the death of Darron Etheredge,” Ireland said.

“Henry County police investigators believe the person operating the black Mercedes SUV is a possible witness to this incident,” Ireland said.

No other details were released.

Anyone who recognizes the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, is asked to call police at 770-288-8200 or 770-957-9121.
