An 18-year-old was handling a gun in a bedroom of a DeKalb County home when he was shot Wednesday night, police said.

The teen was in critical condition when DeKalb police arrived about 10:30 p.m. to the home in the 5200 block of Kelleys Creek Drive.

His injuries are considered life-threatening, an officer on the scene told Channel 2 Action News.

Several other people were inside the Redan-area home when the boy was shot, including two children, according to police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent. Both children were questioned by investigators but later released.

The victim, whose name was not released, was in serious condition Thursday morning at a hospital.
