An Ellenwood man was convicted of holding a woman hostage, torturing her and then raping her for nine hours at a Henry County home, officials said.

Michael Hamilton, 56, was convicted of rape, aggravated sodomy, terroristic threats, false imprisonment and simple battery by a jury Thursday, Henry County District Attorney spokeswoman Megan Matteucci said.

Hamilton put a gun to the woman’s head and threatened to kill her while sexually assaulting her in Sept. 2014, Matteucci said. He also attacked her with a sword and a knife.

The woman escaped after nine hours of abuse.

Hamilton will be sentenced Sept. 7.
