After allegedly shooting and killing two men, a 23-year-old Coweta County man showed up at a local hospital for treatment of his own injures, Newnan police said Wednesday.

And from that hospital, he was sent to Atlanta Medical Center, where he was arrested Wednesday afternoon after undergoing surgery, Newnan police Chief Douglas "Buster" Meadows told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Kamikie Nechez Wilkins, also known as "Chez," was arrested at 3 p.m.after tips sent officers to the hospital, Meadows said.

"From what I was told, it was injuries he got last night," Meadows said. "His injuries are non-life threatening."

Investigators believe Wilkins may have been shot by one of the two men he's accused of killing. Wilkins has been charged with two counts of felony murder for allegedly shooting and killing two men Tuesday night, according to police.

The men killed were identified Wednesday as Gregory Marquel Anderson, 31, and Darian Vershon Darelle Person, 23, both of Newnan.

Around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of shots being fired on Hill Street in Newnan, Meadows said. One man was found dead in the street, and the second man died after being transported to the hospital, police said.

Police said there was an altercation between the victims and the suspects prior to the shooting. Detectives are attempting to locate additional witnesses and others who could have been involved, police said.

Wilkins is expected to be transported to the Coweta County jail upon his release from the hospital.
