A 21-year-old man is charged with murder and aggravated battery after DeKalb County authorities said he beat an Atlanta man to death.

Jordan Thornton was arrested Monday after turning himself in to DeKalb authorities, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cynthia Williams.

The alleged incident happened at a home on Hemingway Road in Stone Mountain on Wednesday. The sheriff’s office said Thornton punched Anthony Allen, 23, in the head repeatedly. The beating caused bleeding and brain swelling that ultimately led to Allen’s death, Williams said.

No other information was released.
