A man confessed to shooting and killing his girlfriend after they got into an argument overnight near Lithonia, police said Wednesday.

DeKalb County detectives told Channel 2 Action News the shooting happened in the boyfriend’s apartment on Place Fontaine near Fairington and Panola roads.

The 40-year-old man called 911 and waited for officers to come.

“When they arrived, a male subject standing outside stated that a female was shot inside his apartment,” DeKalb police Lt. Rod Bryan said.

The 39-year-old woman was found dead from a single gunshot, Channel 2 reported.

Police have not released the names of the couple or the charges against the boyfriend.
