Clayton County police made a quick arrest in the Sunday morning shooting death of a man at a Riverdale Road apartment complex.
Officers responding to a 2:45 a.m. report of a shooting at the Reserve at Riverdale Apartment Homes in the 5400 block of Riverdale Road found 25-year-old Christopher Devan Collins lying on the floor of an apartment with a fatal gunshot wound, Clayton County police spokeswoman Charlene Watson-Fraser said.
“While officers were investigating a burglary in progress at an adjacent building within the same complex,” Watson-Fraser said, “they noticed that the description that was provided of the possible shooter matched a suspect detained in the burglary. Detectives determined there was enough probable cause to seek warrants.”
Aaron J. Edmondson, 28, of College Park, was arrested on murder and aggravated assault charges, she said.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
