Man, 41, arrested on child molestation, sexual battery charges

A 41-year-old man is facing charges after he sexually molested a girl, a Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

Matthew Matias Silva, 41, of Gainesville, molested the girl from January 2016 to April 2018 at a residence in the 3500 block of Gilleland Extension, Lt. Scott Ware said.

The girl’s age was not released, but Ware said “Silva and the victim were acquainted.”

Silva was arrested Tuesday and charged with child molestation and sexual battery. He is in the Hall County jail without bond.
