A man allegedly beat and imprisoned an Athens woman after he became “angry because of the dress length that she had chosen,” according to Athens-Clarke County police.

Federico Funtay Ford, 37, reportedly drove the 36-year-old victim to buy a dress she could wear for photographs that were to be taken the next day, the Athens Banner-Herald reported. After leaving the store, Ford reportedly slapped the victim, chased her when she got out of the car and beat her in the face and head.

The victim convinced Ford to take her to Athens Regional Medical Center on a promise that she would say she fell on some stairs, police said. An emergency room nurse notified police.

Ford was identified as the father of the victim’s child.

He was charged with battery and false imprisonment. He was already on parole for an aggravated battery conviction in Jackson County. He was denied bail.
