The man was arrested after police connected him to at least five burglaries.

Police in Peachtree City said they’ve arrested a man who broke into multiple units at an apartment complex.

Carl Singleton Jr., 31, of Jonesboro, is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, but police say he is responsible for a slew of burglaries that happened in July and August.

At least four burglaries in which Singleton is accused happened at the Camden Apartments on Merrick Drive, officials said. Two occurred in July and the other two happened Aug. 28, authorities said.

Peachtree City police said Singleton was not an alleged smash-and-grab type of burglar, Channel 2 Action News reported. Lt. Matt Myers told the news station that surveillance video from the most recent burglaries showed Singleton in the complex for about three hours.

“During that time he scoped out potential victims. He took time going in and out looking for targets,” Myers said.

He then allegedly pried apart the deadbolts of the units to get inside. Police said Singleton stole some big-ticket items like a flat-screen television and drew little to no attention to himself.

“In an apartment complex, one of the challenges is you don’t always know who your neighbors are, because they change,” Myers told Channel 2. “So, somebody sees a guy walking through the parking lot with a TV and they may or may not think it’s suspicious.”

Singleton was identified as a suspect after the second pair of burglaries and warrants were issued the next day. He was taken into custody Friday, and a search warrant was executed at his home, police said.

Authorities said some stolen property was recovered during the search, and evidence was seized connecting Singleton to another burglary at the The Fairways apartments on Peachtree Station Circle on Aug. 27.

Singleton was booked into the Fayette County jail, where he faces six counts of burglary.
