About two weeks after a woman was gunned down along Campbellton Road in southwest Atlanta, police made an arrest.

Darrian Dupree, 29, of Atlanta, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, police said. He’s accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend Felicia Morgan on April 1, according to an incident report obtained by AJC.com.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. that day, officers were called to the 2900 block of Campbellton Road and found the woman with a gunshot wound to her upper torso, the report said. She died at Grady Memorial Hospital.

A witness told investigators that the suspect left in a Chevrolet Malibu that belonged to the victim’s sister, the report said. Officers were then able to track down Dupree and arrest him.

Other details about his arrest were not provided. He was taken to the Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters for questioning before he was booked into the Fulton County Jail, where he remains without bond.

It was the second deadly shooting to take place in that block of Campbellton Road within two days, police said.

On March 31, a woman was arrested on murder charges in the shooting death of a 45-year-old man, AJC.com previously reported. Investigators said they believe that shooting was drug-related.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
