A man accused of exposing himself near apartment swimming pools in Gwinnett County is in custody, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Police in Duluth and Johns Creek long had sought the man, but he eluded them — until Monday, according to the station.

Duluth police caught up to Daniel Unije, 21, when he showed up for an unrelated court appearance.

“When we first approached him,” police spokesman Ted Sadowski said, “he didn’t know what was going on.”

Witnesses reported seeing Unije walking around and touching himself in public, police said. Authorities were concerned he might escalate his crimes and do something against a resident. So Duluth police issued a lookout and obtained a warrant, according to Channel 2.

Now the suspect is jailed on one count of public indecency. “It’s not the biggest crime,” Sadowski said, “but it had a lot of people worried.”
