A 19-year-old accused of assaulting and robbing two men police say attacked his brother was arrested at a Clayton County motel Monday, authorities said.
Zachary Hardwick had been on the run since the alleged Aug. 15 beating, Clayton County police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said in a news release. He was arrested at the America’s Best Inn and Suites on Old Dixie Highway in Jonesboro.
Before the alleged beating, Hardwick’s younger brother, who has not been named, was in a fistfight with the two men and suffered “less than favorable results” from the fight, Marbury said.
Later that evening, police said Hardwick and his brother went to a Riverdale home, where they assaulted the men, fired shots and robbed them at gunpoint.
Hardwick’s brother was arrested shortly after the attack.
Hardwick remains in the Clayton County jail on charges of aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.
His first court appearance is at 10 a.m. Friday.
