Three security guards at a mall in DeKalb County have been suspended without pay after allegedly punching a teenager repeatedly over the weekend.

The guards, who work at the Mall at Stonecrest in Lithonia, told the teenage boy and his friends to leave Saturday evening because they were unaccompanied minors, according to a Channel 2 Action News report.

A witness reportedly saw one of the guards throw the first punch after allegedly insulting one of the minors. She recorded the fight on her cell phone, according to Channel 2.

The mall released a statement that said it is investigating the incident.

“The Mall at Stonecrest and Securitas … is currently working with the DeKalb Police Department while this incident is under investigation,” the statement said. “The security officers have been suspended without pay and will no longer work on site at the shopping center.”
