One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting Monday evening outside a DeKalb County home.

The two were taken to a hospital after they were found with gunshot wounds in the 800 block of Needle Rock Drive, according to DeKalb police. Officers went to the neighborhood, which is located just outside the city of Stone Mountain, after getting a call about gunshots in the area around midnight.

A 20-year-old victim died of his injuries at the hospital, police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said. The other victim suffered only minor injuries, she said.

“Our preliminary investigation has determined that the shooting is the result of a dispute between the suspect(s) and the victims that began earlier in the day,” Vincent said in a statement. “It appears that the victims were outside the home when the suspect(s) arrived and began shooting.”

The suspects then drove away from the scene, according to police. It is not clear if the shots were fired from a vehicle.

No description of the suspects or their vehicle was provided. The deadly incident remains under investigation, Vincent said.
