One person was killed Monday afternoon in a double shooting in an eastern Clayton County neighborhood.

Two victims were found with gunshot wounds when Clayton County police responded to the area of Chaseland and Ansley Drive about 2 p.m., according to a police spokeswoman. One of the victims was dead at the scene.

The other was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the spokeswoman said.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the gunfire, she said.

Investigators did not have any information on a possible suspect. They are not releasing the identities of the victims until their families are notified.
