Two women allegedly used a 7-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy to smuggle marijuana into a South Georgia prison, according to a media report.

Shalon Nicole Booker, 36, and Dana Jenelle Hammond, 22, both with Richmond County addresses, were arrested Monday at Telfair State Prison outside McRae, the Macon Telegraph reported. Telfair County is about 180 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta.

When the suspects visited the prison Monday, seven individually wrapped packages of suspected marijuana were found inside the seams of the children’s trousers, Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson said in a Facebook post.

“Poor little kids, they don’t even realize they’re being used,” Steverson told the newspaper. “People don’t have morals anymore it doesn’t seem.”

Deputies eventually released the children to their grandmother, Steverson said.
