Two juveniles will face charges in connection with a fire that destroyed a vacant building at Tara Woods Apartments in Jonesboro, an official said Thursday.

More than 30 Clayton County firefighters worked to prevent the Oct. 30 blaze from spreading to nearby buildings, fire department spokeswoman Laura Richardson said.

Witnesses told investigators about “suspicious activity” involving two juveniles seen at the complex just before the fire started, she said.

An investigation by the Clayton County Fire Marshal’s Office and Clayton County police determined that the juvenile suspects were linked to the fire. They were released to their family and will follow up with Juvenile Court.
