Authorities are investigating a threat made on social media against a Covington middle school.

The Instagram threat warned students to not attend Liberty Middle School and said “im finna shoot the school up or probably blow it up.”

A juvenile has been charged with making terroristic threats and giving false information, according to Newton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Michael Gregg. The suspect was not identified.

The threat was deemed not credible.

School district officials, Newton County authorities and the GBI are all investigating, Gregg said in a news release.

Parents were notified of the threats through a call, school district spokeswoman Sherri Davis said in a statement.
