A 5-year-old died two days after a three-vehicle wreck Thursday in Decatur, police said.

Miles Jenness died Saturday after a vehicle driven by Michelle Wierson of Avondale Estates allegedly ran into the car Jenness was in at a red light on South Candler Street, Decatur police said in a news release.

Jenness’ parent received moderate injuries in the wreck. No one else was injured.

Wierson was previously charged with DUI, serious injury by vehicle, battery, reckless driving and following too closely. Additional charges are pending after Jenness’ death, the release said.

After hitting a second car, Wierson “began behaving erratically and running in and out of traffic,” police previously told AJC.com.

An off-duty DeKalb County police officer and a MARTA police officer stopped to help, and Wierson allegedly assaulted the DeKalb officer.

She remains in the DeKalb County Jail without bond, according to records.
