Diamond Boykin, 26, faces murder and first-degree home invasion charges in the shooting of 39-year-old Latonian Burch, DeKalb police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said.

According to police, Burch and his girlfriend were staying at the America’s Best Value Inn in the 2500 block of Candler Road when Boykin went to the door just before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

A male suspect rushed inside and fought with Burch before fatally shooting him, Campbell said. Authorities are still searching for the gunman.

While Boykin, who is known in the area, wasn’t the shooter, her actions led to the crime, police said. Under Georgia law, a person can be charged with murder if they committed a felony that led to another person’s death.

Boykin remains in the DeKalb County jail without bond.

Authorities are still searching for the shooter.
