A stray bullet hit a 10-year-old girl as she slept in her bed in DeKalb County, police said.

The shooting happened just before 9:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Windward Forest apartments in the 2600 block of Embarcadero Drive.

The shooter fired several rounds into the building, and one went through a window and hit the child, DeKalb police Lt. Lonzy Robertson said.

She was taken to the hospital in stable condition, and police have since said her injuries are minor.

The shooter was last spotted running from a parking lot outside the apartment, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“There is no motive for the shooting,” Robertson said. “This is an ongoing investigation.”
