Gunfire rang out Monday night inside a crowded Midtown restaurant and a man was shot in the stomach and leg, Atlanta police said.

The man was standing in the JCT Kitchen & Bar parking lot with his wife when someone attempted to rob him at gunpoint, Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said.

The robber shot the man, who ran inside the restaurant.

“The robber chased the victim into the crowded restaurant, and continued to fire at the man,” Campos said.

Police have not released a description of the robber, who fled the scene before authorities arrived.

The man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was alert, Campos said.

The man’s wife was not injured.

No other details have been released.
