DeKalb County police investigated a shooting at a motel on Millwood Lane on Wednesday night.

Two men were shot near a DeKalb County motel Wednesday evening, police said.

The shooting happened in the 6000 block of Millwood Lane, which is near an Econo Lodge in Lithonia, according to a DeKalb police incident report.

Witnesses told police that five young men were in a motel room talking about “someone (who) knows who is doing the robberies around the hotel,” the report said.

Three of the men walked outside the room, followed shortly by the other two men, witnesses said. Then several gunshots were heard.

Witnesses didn’t know who fired the shots, but one witness said a man was pistol-whipped and assaulted before he began shooting at the other men, the report said. A pool of blood with footprints around it was found at the scene.

Four of the men got into a Hyundai Santa Fe and drove to Emory at Hillandale Hospital, where they were met by police. It’s unknown what happened to the fifth man.

Yavore Reddice was in the backseat of the vehicle and had been shot in the face, the report said. He was rushed into the hospital for medical treatment, and his condition wasn’t provided.

A woman saying she was his mother called AJC.com and said Reddice was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and is “fighting for his life.”

Owen Trotman, 20, was bleeding from a cut under his right eye and also underwent medical treatment, the report said.

The other two men in the Hyundai, which had a shattered left rear window, spoke to police at the hospital.

Christopher Woods, 20, had a gunshot wound to his right arm and received medical treatment. He told an officer someone began shooting at them at the motel, but he told a different officer they were driving east on I-20 when they were shot at, the report said.

Joshua Wright, 20, told police his brother was shot while they were driving on the highway, and he was detained for further questioning, the report said. He was unable to provide a description of the vehicle he said shot at them.

An investigation is ongoing.
