A Paulding County man is facing a charge of voluntary manslaughter after his roommate was found shot dead at their home Sunday night.

Deputies called to the home in the 150 block of North Springs Way near Acworth discovered 43-year-old Billy Sherman Vaughn Jr. dead inside.

“According to detectives, Vaughn had been shot by his roommate, Max Daniel Penny,” Paulding County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Ashley Henson said.

Penny, 40, was arrested and is being held in the county jail Tuesday without bond.

“This case is still being actively investigated by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation,” Henson said.
