An Atlanta murder suspect was arrested Thursday in South Carolina, two weeks after police discovered the body of a man he allegedly shot and killed in the parking lot of a DeKalb County mall.

Purcious Smith, 29, faces murder and armed robbery charges in the Oct. 17 fatal shooting of Sergio Collins, FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett said. That same week, a missing person’s alert was issued for Collins, who was believed to be in danger.

DeKalb police found Collins’ body inside his Pontiac Grand Prix near a DSW Shoe Warehouse outside the Mall at Stonecrest.

It was unclear how Collins ended up at the mall, but it was believed he was shot inside his car. Atlanta police, who are investigating the crime, said Collins was last seen in the area of Spencer Street.

Smith will remain in South Carolina, where he will await extradition proceedings.
