A man was killed in a drive-by shooting Wednesday night while standing outside a southwest Atlanta home, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The man was found shot in front of the home in the 700 block of Cascade Avenue, Atlanta police told the news station. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as 31-year-old Brandon Martin of southwest Atlanta.
Witnesses told police they saw a gray sedan drive away after the shooting.
“We heard gunshots outside the window,” neighbor Brenda Johnson told Channel 2. “It was like 10 to 12 shots.”
Johnson, who has four children, said her first concern was her own family. She and her husband, Sean, checked to make sure all of their kids were safely inside the home.
“There was a shooting over here a couple of weeks ago kind of in the same area, kind of looking like it was directed at the same house,” said Sean Johnson, who serves as the neighborhood watch captain for the block.
According to police, the Wednesday night shooting is the first reported incident at the home involving gunfire.
Investigators went door-to-door through the night looking for witnesses and evidence. They do not know if Martin was the intended target, according to Channel 2.
No other details have been released.
